Halo 3 Skulls
By ibnukasim

Halo 3 skulls are Easter eggs, sometimes called cheats, in the popular game designed to add interest or challenge to the game.  Many experts maintain web sites where they detail the skulls.

Hello 3 skulls can be obtained by completing levels from the beginning on  normal or higher difficulty level,  although resume game can be used from the point a game was saved.  A game need not be saved in order to keep the skulls that have been earned. Use the campaign lobby to activate skulls. That means the game will then be played with the effect that the skull offers.

There are both gold Halo 3 sculls and silver skulls, both of which general types do something different in the game.  Gold skulls are achievements which add multipliers to campaign meta game scores, they affect difficulty of gameplay, making it more of a challenge for people who have more skills. Silver skulls alter the information you hear in dialogue, as well as change the game physics.

Here

are details of the skulls:

Iron Skull – Multiply x 3 – restart checkpoint when a player dies, restart level if the whole team dies.

Blackeye – it's a 1.5 times multiplier that turns off auto shield regeneration and regenerates targets when you attack them in melee.

Tough luck – Multiply x 5, enemies can dodge as well as ninjas.

Catch skull – 1.5x, NPCs are more likely to toss grenades.

Fog – 1.5 times modifier that removes your motion tracker.

The Famine Skull – double modifier that renders dropped weapons to half ammo and charge.

Thunderstorm Skull –1.5x, maximum rank for all NPCs.

The Tilt Skull – double modifier that gives enemies maximum resistance to damage types.

Mythic – 2x, NPC health doubled.

It's easy to see how these skulls will make the game more difficult to play, and thus why they multiply the achievement points earned while playing the game.  If became too easy, try some of these skulls.
