People who waited for the release of the highly anticipated jumped on the trailer. Actually there were more than one Halo 3 Trailer, downloaded from sites such as Youtube over 100 million times. Networks spend tens of millions of dollars to achieve viewer numbers far smaller than that. Microsoft knew it would have a hit on its hands.
The trailer came out during a time when people had a lot of reasons to want to know about the game. would end the original trilogy, so people were very interested as to how the series story line would resolve. There could be spoilers or information as to the Halo rings or the Founders' ultimate plans for them. Fans scoured the trailers for information like a CSI investigator scouring a crime scene. The trailer brought two entertainment realms together – interactive video games and passive viewing.
The game was not a let down from what was shown in the Halo
3 trailer. retained popular game play elements such as the story line and the golden triangle, and added new things too. One of these was that for the first time a player maps could actually be edited and then made available to the public to play on a server via Xbox Live. This turned out to be a wildly popular feature of Halo 3.
Can you still watch the trailer? When dealing with videos online it's always a good bet to check YouTube – that's a place where one of the trailers, the Gamedaily trailer shown on Monday night football on December 4, 2006, can be seen. For people who haven't tried Halo, or who would like a reminder of what it was like, the trailers are a good source of information.
